See an Eye Dr ASAP: Instead of worry, have an exam. It is the nly way to deal with this. If there's something wrong - they'll start the treatment process. If it's minor, you will relax and find quick relief. Best wishes.

Unlikely: What you described does not fit with optic neuritis. Next time you see your doctor, mention this and may be request an evaluation by an ophthalmologist. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.

Just curious...: Why you are concerned specifically about optic neuritis? A female in her mid twenties might worry about this, for example, if there is a family history of MS or another CNS disorder. Maybe if you have a personal history of diabetes you are concerned about visual complications? In any event, ON is typically painless, and usually there are problems with vision. Pain should be evaluated by your PCP.
