6 weeks to heal: It's normal to spot following a hysterectomy, especially if you had a vaginal side closure. The vag cuff (area of vaglna that was sewn shut) can spot as you become more active. If the bleeding is heavy, persistent, bright red, and increasing, call your surgeon for an exam. Rarely, if the vagina dehisces (opens) you can have copious watery, mucousy discharge and this requires a visit. Take care.
