Try acid blockers: Most esophagitis will likely reflect injury from reflux of stomach contents (gerd) & should typically respond to acid blocker medicines. If you choose this route & you derive no relief after 2 weeks of acid suppression treatment, then seek medical evaluation since esophagitis may be more severe than anticipated, or due to a variety of non-reflux causes. But, hiatal hernias are not cured by pills.
