Abstain & repeat lab: Elevated liver enzymes simply means inflammation of the liver and is reflected by elevated liver function tests (AST and ALT) - it can be the result of many things - the most common in the US is from alcohol, but fatty liver, viral hepatitis (hepatitis b and hepatitis c), autoimmune hepatitis, and drug induced hepatitis can also cause this. Stay off alcohol and watch your diet, avoid tylenol (acetaminophen)
