Numbers & Types: Liver enzymes are typically found within the cell and spill out when the liver is damaged. The actual number is typically not as important unless the increase was significant. The type of enzyme usually is. (AST/ALT) Alcohol will raise liver enzymes in the short term, but eventually return to normal if you stop consuming. Which one is still elevated?
