Resolving bruise: What you describe could be a resolving deep bruise. Trauma bad enough to frature a bone most likely damaged blood vessels and lymph vessels in the foot area. That can cause the discoloration and the swelling. Ice, support, possibly a restrictive shoe , all can help.
