Many causes: of anemia. she should worked up to determine if it is due to blood loss or destruction of blood or under production.

Anemia: In that age bracket is usually related to having periods and many females experience that or having uterine fibroids which usually involve once mom will hit menopause. Best way to tell is ask your moms doctor what was the reason behind your moms anemia.
