Many options: There are many choices when it comes to the materials used for hip replacement surgery. The most thorough study of implants materials to date comes from the Australian Joint Replacement Registry- an extremely large collection of data from thousands of surgeries. The best material at this time seems to be Oxidized Zirconium (known as Oxinium) with highly cross-linked polyethylene.
