A member asked:

Which type of recovery should i expect after hip replacement surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Excellent: When arthritis or other problem leads to deterioration of the hip, pain is interfering with activities of daily living, and conservative care isn't working, then a hip replacement is a good surgical option. It can be done from the front or back and 95% do well. Risks include infection, instability, limb length discrepancy, nerve damage, and blood clots, but these are infrequent (<5%). Most do well.
