Somewhat variable: I hope its not you who needs the hip replacement due to your young age In general, a successful hip replacement can certainly last 15-20 years Some of the technical and minor changes to the joint surfaces may extend the lifespan of the procedure but it takes many years to see how long these will last In general, less weight and a less active lifestyle will allow a longer duration

Modern hip replacement works incredibly well. Duration is 20 years or more, we hope. The implants are very durable. If something wears, parts can be changed, without changing the entire surgery. There have been rapid advances in technology, but few of them have proven to reliably improve patient outcomes.
