Call your doctor: Persistent chest pain is not normal. Please call your doctor or the doctor who treated the patient in the hospital. This is not an issue for self treatment.

Inform the doctor: The doctor who treated him in the hospital should be informed about this pain. As long as it is tolerable pain, I would not take him back to the hospital. But you do need to keep in touch with his doctor. No one else can advise you better than the treating doctor. I am sure he/she sent him home with some such instructions.
