Sometimes: It does not work for all patients, but it also does not work right away. Work with a hematologist to increase your dose of hydroxyurea to the maximum tolerated to increase your chances of increasing Fetal Hemoglobin [HbF] production (the goal of Hydrea is to make HbF instead of sickle hemoglobin) .
