What is causing kidney stones? they're pure calcium oxylate,but i rarely drink milk, eat ice cream,yogurt,cheese & drink 8-10 lg bottles of h2o daily.

Calcium is good: Lots of water is important to prevent stones. But ironically, low dietary Ca actually increases risk of Ca stones. Probably because less Ca in food increases absorption of oxalate (from plants). More Ca in diet binds w/ oxalate in gut, instead of in urine. Thus fewer stones. Some people excrete excessive Ca in urine, &meds can reduce Ca excretion. Get the Ca/creatinine ratio checked in urine.

Calcium is ok: Oxalate in your diet is the culprit. There are a number of foods that contain high levels of oxalate and you should look up foods containing oxalate and try to avoid those foods. Calcium is recommended for you especially as a women to promote good bone health. Take the daily recommended amount of calcium which is 1000mg.
