Here are some ...: Most of palpable lipoma would not cause "rib pain and tenderness" since it is superficial and outside the rib. For very unusual condition, a lipoma may compress a nerve but impalpable due to its hidden location, yet it is incidentally suspected by a MRI for evaluating possible radiculopathy (pain from spinal nerve compression). But, age 19 is more in your favor. Nonetheless, see and work with Doc.

Maybe: Lipomas are benign fatty growths. Sometimes they seem to cause pain because of their location, they are at pressure points, or due to size. Cause of pain not always clear or if it is due to the lipoma. Pain could be due to other cause.
