Hernis: Epigastric hernia ia a possibility. See a general surgeron especially if it hurts.

Probably benign: A grape sized lump on your chest wall that your primary care doc is not worried about is probably a benign lipoma or other benign lump such as a sebaceous or other cyst. If it is tender, it could be an inflammed cyst or lipoma. A lymph node there is less likely but not impossible. If it remains tender or grows, you should have it checked by a surgeon for possible removal.
