Probable Goiter: I assume this is the thyroid gland. Often the the gland enlarges and contains numerous nodules representing various entities. This is referred to as a "Multinodular Goiter" and is usually benign. There may be functional or hormonal abnormalites which can be measured with blood tests. However, each nodule must be inspected individually to ensure it is not cancer. Biopsy may be the only way to tell.

Biopsy: It is not usually possible to say what a nodule is by looking at it. It may be necessary to consider an ultrasound guided needle biopsy to " know" what it is. Talk to your doctor about your options
