Broken filling: If there is no discomfort when the filling is out, you can leave it out. However, you must keep the tooth clean because it will be a food trap, and see your dentist as soon as possible to have the tooth repaired.

You should remove : the loose filling, otherwise you may aspirate the filling into the lungs. However, the tooth can be painful because the exposed tooth tissue is often sensitive to temperature, pressure or air. You can use dental cement (OTC) directly on the tooth surface. This will help to protect and seal the area until you're able to see your dentist. Good luck.
