yes: Yes. They usually do a good job. If the school's services do not reasonably address your problems, you can then go outside the school and see someone privately. Or, you can go for a consultation and ask for a private referral. They are usually separate from the school administration, and are only legally required to notify someone if they believe the person is actively dangerous or suicidal.

PROBABLY: If something is intense enough to ask the question, at the least you are really uncomfortable. Sort it out now - either fix it or get it out of the way, but don't sit in your troubles and wait for them to evaporate.
