Pancreatitis: Lab tests usually include a comprehensive metabolic panel, amylase, lipase. Usually an imaging, study such as a CT scan of the abdomen, help to assess the severity of pancreatitis. Acute is usually caused by alcohol, certain meds, and gallstones. Chronic is often alcohol related.
