Not necessarily...: Ulcers, or gastritis without ulcer, can cause pain, or bleeding, or both. The pain can be quite severe without bleeding. On the other hand, bleeding can be severe and even fatal with no pain. Bleeding would result in nausea, vomiting of blood or digested blood looking like coffee grounds. Also, blood can appear in the stool, or the stools can be tarry black.
