Nose bleeds: anterior vs posterior has to do with what part of the nose the bleeding is coming from (front of the nose..anterior, ,back of the nose..posterior) Without looking into someone's nose unable to tell whether anterior or posterior source of the bleeding. Many causes of both anterior and posterior bleeds. Hope this helps.

Location: Ignore Dr. Oz; he's an entertainer. Anterior is out the nostrils, posterior down the throat. The causes are pretty much the same, except that it's easier to start an anterior one by picking your nose -- everybody does it. Blood pressure and platelet checks are in order if they're problematic.
