A member asked:

I have pain and swelling in groin. recent ct scan states nonspecific inguinal lymph node. what kind of doctor does a biopsy?

Dr. Michael Gabor answered

Specializes in Diagnostic Radiology

It depends: A radiologist can perform a ct guided needle biopsy. A surgeon can perform an excisional biopsy. Surgeons and other physicians may be able to perform needle biopsies if they have access to ultrasound equipment or if the mass is palpable.
