Increases risk but..: It's thought that there is increased risk of a teen committing suicide, esp.within the first few weeks of treatment; I'm not sure "involuntary" is the best word but it's thought many commit suicide who might not have if not on SSRI's due to increased suicidal thoughts & impulsiveness- see http://www.drugwatch.com/ssri/suicide/ However, most on SSRI's do not suicide & many are helped- see comment:
