When they heal.: The healing process in the mouth is a challenge due to the presence of so many bacteria there. But your body can handle it. After you heal and skin closes, risk of infection goes down dramatically.

Extractions: Follow the post op instructions given by your dentist or oral surgeon to minimize chance of infection. No smoking, soft diet are important. Your risk of infection diminishes quickly if you take good care of yourself and is very low a week after the extractions.

Why not now?: As long as you follow your dentist's instructions, the chance of infection is low. There are several stages in the healing process. Stage one would be when the sockets are completely covered with gum. Stage two would be when the sockets have undergone bone fill. I wouldn't worry. Just see your dentist regularly for check-ups (even with no teeth) and\or when you notice any change or symptom.
