Not usually: The vacuum assisted core biopsy might entirely remove a very small lesion, maybe 7 or 8mm or less, but usually not larger lesions. If microcalcifications were being biopsied, some should have been removed, perhaps all if the cluster was small, and the decreased number of calcs should be apparent on mammography. If there was no mass and there weren't microcalcifications, what was biopsied?

It takes samples: Vacuum assisted biopsy take samples from the area in question using some kind of imaging technique but it is not meant to simply take the whole area in question out..although some small abnormalities are completely taken out with this procedure just because they are small. Removing the whole are in question would more likely require an open surgical biopsy.
