Subclasses: Serotypes actually represent the different strains of S pneumococci with 23 of them being most common in causing human diseases. If you have not received any vaccination or had any infection, low antibody titers are not necessarily abnormal. The best way is to get immunized then check the titers again. Pneumococcal vaccine is intended to reduce the risk of systemic invasion by this germ.
