Medico-legal quest.: When you sign a consent for tonsillectomy, the responsibility of the surgeon is to also include on the consent the possibility of adenoidectomy. Although, in general, it is a simple procedure, bleeding may occur and electro-coagulation of of the base of that adenoid needs to be performed. Therefore, the surgeon must have you sign a consent for this additional procedure.
