A member asked:

How can my surgeon prevent severe post surgery bleeding from tonsillectomy? is it based upon how well he cauterizes?

Bleeding: Post op bleeding occurs with uncertain cause. However the severity of the disease and the expertise and gentleness of the surgeon certainly are factors that are taken into consideration

Partly: Taking a good history to make sure you are not an easy bleeder and reviewing your meds to make sure none of them interfere with clotting is a good start. All bleeding should be controlled in the OR. A common time for bleeding to occur is when the scabs separate and your surgeon can't control that. He will be available though to help manage the bleeding and recauterizing the area. All the best.
