Unknown: Septal defects are felt to have at least in part a genetic predisposition, so it isn't likely that any one thing, such as the emergency contraceptive pill, caused the defects you describe. There likely were number of things that occurred that led to these complex cardiac anomalies. There is no good evidence at this time that Plan B causes or contributes to heart defects, but much more study needed
