34 weeks GA: Typically antenatal steroids are given to mothers who are going to deliver before 34 weeks gestation, as the lungs aren't mature by this time. They still may be given after 34 weeks, in some circumstances, but most babies have mature lungs and breathe well on their own without mothers getting steroids by 34 wks GA.
