Not Necessarily: If the ASD is truly a primum defect, then there's unfortunately a significant chance that it will not close on its own. Primum asds result from a different issue in heart development than secundum asds which are more likely to close. Please follow-up with your pediatric cardiologist as all children's heart are different.
