Postpone Water: Giving water "frequently" to a 5.5 month old infant is neither necessary nor recommended. Breast milk and formula provide all that is necessary for your infant in the first 6 months. Giving too much water (which is easy to do) can cause serious electrolyte disturbances, less nutritional intake, and more. Additionally, breast milk protects against diarrheal illnesses, ear infections and more.
