A member asked:

If i have been bitten by an unvaccinated dog, the wound could be rabies infective for people around me after 4 hours, even if i washed it with soap?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dog bite: Rabies is almost invariably fatal, so a dog bite is something to take seriously and address immediately. If the dog has not been vaccinated, the most prudent thing to do is either call your local health department or go to the nearest emergency room. You will need to receive both rabies immunoglobulin and also a Rabies Vaccine series. It is highly unlikely that anyone around you can be infected
