My friend who is an alcoholic in his late fourties, claims he gets sick when he doesn't drink. is there anything behind this or just his next excuse?

Alcoholic: Until he is safely detoxed he is probably telling the truth. Going into withdrawals or having the DTs is very real for the active alcoholic. But it is absolutely no excuse to keep drinking. Sobriety is very much a safe, real, and life saving experience. His next step is to get to the hospital for detoxing.
