A member asked:

After having a 18cm cyst removed, pathology said that it had precancerous cells. my right ovary was already removed due to torsion. should i worry?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not: Any cyst of the ovary over 5 cm. has to be considered as one that has or will possibly undergo malignant transformation. If removing an 18 cm cyst showed premalignant cells, the removal if complete should be curative. To make sure, follow up should periodically have a CA125 which while not diagnostic does have monitoring value. If that marker elevates than do a CAT scan.
