Difficult: Whemn stomach lesions spread to the nodes mosntly along the lesser curvature, they can then transfer to adjacent retroperitoneal nodes, those behind the stomach in the lesser sac where the pancreas is found. Those nodes are part of the nodal system than has to be dissected. Pancreas should not be removed but instead RT and chemo given for suspected residual disease.

Need more details: Cancer of the stomach is curable in its very early stages when it is still ,localized to the stomach wall.Once it escapes and spreads to the surroundings, cure become less likely. Yet I would hold judgment unless youc an tell me where exactly is her residual cancer(?lymph nodes or invading into the pancreas?) Has she been offered or started on chemotherapy? What is her oncologist's opinion?
