Unusual, has answers: Smell is carried by cranial nerve 1. Taste is carried by cranial nerves 7,9,10 (and some branches of 5). Smell ends up more in the frontal lobe, taste more in the insula (lateral). Most of taste is related to smell (loosing smell blunts taste a lot), not vice versa. Need evaluation for types of taste loss (separates CN 7,9,10) and other findings. Depending on history, MRI scan may be needed.
