Lactose intolerance: Lactose intolerance most commonly runs in families, and symptoms usually develop during the teen or adult years, although babies can also get this. It is due to deficiency in the enzyme lactase which degrades lactose, the sugar in milk. Most people with this type of lactose intolerance can eat some milk or dairy products without problems.

Depends: Some infants are lactose tolerant during what would be the breastfeeding window (BM has lactose) but later loose the enzyme as they grow older. Your kids experience with the vaccine may have just uncovered a lactose intolerance that would have emerged later. Most transient intolerance related to diarrhea or other gut insult begins to resolve within 72 hours of being placed on lactose free diet.
