I slipped and fell the day before yesterday and hurt my hip/back. i can walk and move around, but only slowly and painfully. do i need an x-ray/mri?

Probably not yet: you are otherwise young/healthy.after a bad fall your worst day is going to be the 2nd day afterwards, there after you should feel a little better each day. You should be able to say that you're a little better each day & after a week almost have no soreness whatsoever. As long as you're continue to get better and by 1-2 weeks afterwards you're not having pain, save the expense of an x-ray.

Unlikely: IF you able to walk an get around and are not having any weakness, numbness or pain in your leg(s), then it is very unlikely that the injury is significant. Best advise it to rest up for 24-48s and then try to increase back to regular activity. If symptoms persist more than 1-2 weeks, see you doctor

Most likely sprain: If persists another 1-2 days, you should your MD CBS let them decide if you need imaging studies
