A member asked:

Could a positive ana automatically mean one would need to be on steriods?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Absolutely not: The ANA is nonspecific and can be seen in numerous diseases and often in totally normal people. By itself, it is not a reason to start any medication. It needs to be evaluated in context of the clinical symptoms.
