Can be: Many patients have difficulty with any foreign object in their mouth. It could be a dental radiograph, a denture, or just about anything else. Talk to your dentist about placing a little numbing gel before taking the films.. it usually helps.

It is normal: Some people have a strong gag reflex and this really does make taking x-rays difficult. Digital Panoramic or 3D external x-ray can solve this problem.
