Dr. Franklyn Gergits answered

Specializes in ENT and Head and Neck Surgery

Sinusitis: Hello. For Acute Sinusitis, an antibiotic is usually curative. If you are having recurring acute or chronic infections, then an allergy evaluation, immune testing, a nasal endoscopic examination and possibly a CT scan is needed. Aggressive medical therapy and possibly surgical options should be entertained. Ask about Balloon Sinuplasty if surgery is discussed.

Actually complicated: Sinusitis is inflammation of the sinuses around the nose. Treatment depends on the duration (acute or chronic), with polyps or without polyps, bacterial or viral infection, etc. A simple aid that helps with most types are saline irrigations of the nose.
