Bacteria vs. viral: Acute sinusitis is characterized by pus in the nose, significant post nasal drainage, pain and pressure in the face and pain between the eyes. You must differentiate this group of symptoms from a viral rhinitis (cold). Relief of symptoms are increased fluids, vitamin c, pain meds. But as always, you need a specific diagnosis. Patients use the term sinusitis very loosely. Get a diagnosis.
