Positioning: It may be all in how you have your arms positioned at night. In rarer cases, it could be something such as carpal tunnel. If you experience numbness in fingers and arms when trying to do your normal activities, see your doctor.

Carpal tunnel?: Early carpal tunnel syndrome can present with night time numbness, usually in the hands but it can also involve the arms. Depending on your position when you sleep other compression neuropathies can also produce numbness in certain areas. If a night time wrist splint relieves your symptoms, it would be in favor of carpal tunnel syndrome.
