A member asked:

In ulcerative colitis what percentage of patients the pouch fails to function properly and may have to be removed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: on many factors. Overall should be less than 10-15%. Risks can be recurrent infections, unexpected Crohn's disease, low blood supply to the pouch, etc. Your own surgeon can better answer your questions & asses your personal risks & concerns.
