How accurate are ultrasounds when it comes to the kidneys ?

Fairly accurate: it really depends on the presenting issue at hand, kidneys cysts, masses, and structural issues are well defined with ultrasound. kidney function is not great for defining kidney function. labs and urine tests are better for this.
