Occipital bursitis: this is likely from where a tndon in your neck attaches to to base of your skull. many doc recommend nsaids or cortisone injection to fix this issue. sometimes sleep postion or repetitive motions exaserbate this problem. seeing a doc to rule out ear infection and mastoiditis would be a good idea, however, your symptoms are not consistent with this. heat pack might help as well
