Won't affect liver: The gallbladder is a sac under the liver which collects bile (the pigment that turns the stool brown) and stores it until you eat a fatty meal. Bile aids in absorbing fats after eating. When you have gallstones, stones can block the opening to the gallbladder, causing symptoms, such as pain, or in some cases "gas". Laparoscopic cholecystectomy removes the gallbladder through small incisions
