No: An HSG, or hysterosalpingogram, is a diagnostic test. Contrast material is infused into the uterus and, in normal exams, it freely flows through the Fallopian tubes and into the peritoneal space. If I Fallopian tube blockage is identified, potential treatment options will be discussed first and potentially carried out at a separate date.

With me YES: Most patients undergo hysterosalpingogram with Diagnostic Radiologists who perform HSG and report findings to the Gynecologist. Certain Interventional Radiologists like myself have added expertise in actually unblocking fallopian tubes (TFTR) if they are blocked on HSG. This is obviously much more convenient for patients and can save them from in vitro fertilization which is much more expensive.
