A member asked:

I got essure inserted april of 2013. how can i tell if my tubes are blocked without an hsg?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Could do Ultrasound: Essure devices are for permanent birth control. Placed non-surgically either hysteroscopically by Gynecologist or fluoroscopically (off label) by Interventional Radiologist. Essure Confirmation Test HSG performed 3 months after placement. This is best test to confirm 2 devices, correct position in tubes, and that tubes are completely blocked. You can try US but physician needs special competency.
